About Me
John is a Digital Compositor and Lighting TD specialized in live action and CG compositing and lighting on feature films as well as TV and everything in between. He has been working in the industry for over 5 years and has been fortunate to work with such award winning studios as Sony Pictures Imageworks, Look Effects, Gravity/RhinoFX and Brainstorm Digital. Recent projects include major motion pictures, such as the highly anticipated "Men in Black 3" and the superhero blockbuster "Green Lantern" as well as Darren Aronofsky's critically acclaimed thriller "Black Swan". Aside from his work on feature films, John has also contributed his talents to working with small and mid-sized independent productions, where he extends his passion for helping directors realize their vision in ways they thought their budget would not otherwise allow. Some recent projects for which John has provided visual effects services include the critically acclaimed and 2012 Sundance Grand Jury Award winning "Beasts of the Southern Wild" and up and coming director Shaun Seneviratne's "How Will We Cross the Seas?".
Skilled in a variety of tools, both commercial and proprietary, including Nuke, Shake, Maya, MentalRay, Katana (SPI), Arnold (SPI), and Renderman, John's skills extend beyond the digital realm as a creative problem solver, leader and mentor to less experienced artists. John's formal education includes studies at Rochester Institute of Technology as well as Rider University where he earned his B.S. in Business Administration with a focus in Computer Information Systems. Additionally, he holds a M.S. in Digital Imaging and Design earned at New York University's Center for Advanced Digital Applications.
